Hi!

1 09 2007

For years we’ve had this huge website with all the stuff we’ve wanted to share online. But the technology as it were, didn’t allow us to make frequent changes, so most of the time, you’d find the news on our site was at least 3-4 weeks old!

Now, as technology has changed, this new blogging format allows anyone (even the technophobe) to share whatever they want, at anytime they want – effortlessly!

But of course this brings its own set of problems, like finding interesting and relevant content to update regularly!

We’re sure you’re not interested in what we ate for dinner and how many times our doggie pooped – which is what many blogs are reduced to, when their writers who are so caught up with the thrill of the instant publishing, run out of things to say, but ramble on nevertheless with a delusionary belief that people are dying to absorb the crap (pun intended).

I’m not kidding – go to Blogger for instance, and try out these searches: keywords “ate dinner” will bring up around 162,700 results; and the search for “dog pooped” will bring up 680 odd results!

We will try our best to update this site at regular intervals, without reducing our posts to the boring and banal.

So thanks for dropping by, and we hope to see you around once in a while.

Cheers!

Nosh – on behalf of the entire shapoorjee family

Back from the hills!

4 09 2007

Last week we went out for a four day trip into the mountains of Uttarakhand. All four of us – radhika, me and the kids – drove out on Saturday morning and ended up taking 12 hours to cover a distance of just 345 kms!

Well, it rained cats and dogs all along the way. The roads near Corbett were covered by rivers overflowing their banks flooding over small bridges. And we got diverted 50 kilometers to avoid a 1 km stretch of road blocked by pilgims streaming out of Brijghat! (When will people in this country learn that religion does not give you the right to inconvenience others!?)

The next day we had a picnic on a hill, enjoying tuna, bananas, burgers, and juice carried all the way from Gurgaon. The day was a pleasant, 23 degrees with cool winds blowing all around. But the skies weren’t clear, so we didn’t get to see our neighbours – a couple of himalayan peaks on the horizon.

On our way we stopped for hot buttas near Bhowali, where the roadside vendor dishes out “shayri” and dialogues from old Bollywood films, besides a fresh lot of sweet corn!

The kids of course also enjoyed driving through the clouds – yes, you can really do that here, as the rain bearing beauties of nature tease, caress and settle down on most mountain roads in the area – often blessing us with loads of rain as we sped along the roads of sheers joy!

Now we’re back. To reality. And the daily grind on the roads of Delhi and Gurgaon.
